Kranman 621 – the obvious harvester for the self-employed forest owner
Kranman continues to develop machines that are adapted to the reality of the everyday life of the self-employed forest owner. When the groundbreaking 620S was launched in 2019, we set a new standard for small harvesters. After seven years of further development and over 150 machines built, it is now time for the next step – the Kranman 621.
The machine is available, as before, in four trim levels: Basic, Comfort, Pro and Pro Plus.
The target group is the same as always – those who want to own a harvester that is strong, reliable, easy to manoeuvre and built to be maintained in the forest. With our own experiences and the views of our customers, hundreds of improvement points make the Kranman 621 more capable than ever.
A powerful harvester crane for real-world conditions
At the heart of the 621 is the completely newly developed HX-65 harvester crane, which with extension provides an impressive reach of an impressive 6.5 metres – 1.1 metres longer than its predecessor. The crane is 100% parallel-guided, strongly dimensioned and equipped with a powerful swing. The improved crane tower increases the lifting height and optimizes parallelization, further simplifying access in tight stands and improving work efficiency.
A chassis built for stability and strength
To handle larger trees despite a flexible overall width of 183 cm, the chassis is made of 20 mm thick sheet metal and the entire weight of the machine is strategically placed low. Together with massive bogie arms, a powerful cast swing house and liquid-filled rear tires, the machine reaches a stable total weight of almost 4 tons. The newly developed articulated joint and automatic handbrake are activated immediately when the pedal is released, providing safety in all situations without support legs. The 621 also has a hydraulic function for manual control of the waist lock in particularly difficult terrain.
A quiet and spacious cab with class-leading visibility
The cab from the 620S has been the basis for the 621 as well – with its low noise level of 67 dB, air-cushioned seat and good visibility upwards through the curved windscreen. The operator enjoys an ergonomic working environment with servo-hydraulic crane and articulated steering in the armrests, optimal control placements and a comfortable entry via the telescopic footstep.
The instrumentation has been updated with clearer gauges, and Comfort/Pro/Pro+ has water-borne underfloor heating for a warm and dry floor even in winter.
Powertrain developed for efficiency and longevity
In the spacious engine compartment sits a powerful four-cylinder Kubota 1.5-litre diesel with 94 Nm of torque and low fuel consumption – an average of 3.5 litres per hour. The large 68-litre fuel tank provides up to 20 hours of runtime. The power of the engine allows for several completely separate pumps: hydrostatic pumps for the front and rear, gear pump for the crane/steering and a Parker 28 cc artificial pressure pump for the head. All functions can be run at the same time without losing power, which gives more trunks per hour and a very responsive driving feel in dense thinning.
Jobo ST50 – still the first choice
The Kranman 621 uses the proven Finnish harvester head Jobo ST50, which fells 30 cm and delimbs 25 cm. Its movable upper blade design provides even knotting results regardless of temperature and oil pressure, and the cut-through guard protects the chain and guide bar when felling. For the 621 Pro+, the combined Jobo ST50 Estate Generation 2 is fitted as standard. Here, the strength of the step feeder is combined with the speed of the roller feeder – an optimal choice for those who want to be able to handle everything from first thinning to thicker stems in second thinning.
Drifting, ground clearance and accessibility
The machine is six-wheel drive with Robson drive and now has a 30% stronger transmission than the 620S. The self-cleaning drive rollers and large wheels provide good load-bearing capacity and enable smooth running even on sensitive surfaces. The Robson system makes it easy to load the machine onto a dolly trolley for transport at speeds of up to 30 km/h.
Smart details that make a difference in the forest
The Kranman 621 has been developed with storage and serviceability in focus. The machine has several external storage compartments for tools and hoses, a module for combi canisters and folding wedges, as well as internal storage for thermos, phone and manual. Under the hood there are holders for two grease guns – always ready even in the cold.
The lighting is carefully optimized in both the cab and crane, which provides a shadow-free and wide light pattern when driving at night.
Built for a long life – without unnecessary computers
Like previous models, the 621 is built with a focus on mechanical reliability. In addition to the simple computer for the head, the machine is completely free of computer-controlled electronics. This provides maximum reliability and makes the machine as easy to service today as it will be in 20 years.
The Kranman 621 is the result of responsive development, real-world experience and a clear vision: to create the most easy-to-drive, stable and reliable harvester for the self-employed forest owner.
